The topline equity indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) extended the ir opening gains and were trading over 1.5 per cent higher in the late morning deals on Tuesday led by gains in information technology (IT) and metal stocks amid positive cues in the global market.
At 11:04 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading 976.42 points (1.75 per cent) higher at 56,798.43 while the Nifty 50 jumped 288.01 points (1.73 per cent) to 16,902.20. On the Sensex pack, HCL Technologies, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Titan Company Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, larsen & Toubro (L&T), ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries (RIL) and Ultratech Cement were the top gainers while Power Grid Corporation of India was the sole laggard.
