The benchmark indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened around 0.5 per cent higher on Monday taking cues from their global peers.
The S&P BSE Sensex surged 375.30 points to 59,161.97 in opening deals while the Nifty 50 climbed 94.75 points to 17,606.05. On the Sensex pack, the gains in the early trade were led by Power Grid, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, NTPC and Dr Reddy’s Labs.
